Cuba and Russia, for expanding cooperation in the banking, energy, health and transportation sectors


On Tuesday, Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, held a meeting with the First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Russia, Ms. Ksenia Yudaeva, with whom he exchanged on cooperation between both banking systems and ratified the will to continue expanding said ties in function of the interests of both nations.

According to Cubaminrex, Cabrisas Ruiz also met with the Minister of Energy, Mr. Alexander Novak. Both authorities reviewed the progress of the main projects in the energy sector that contribute to this prioritized program in the country and agreed to continue making progress in their execution.

Likewise, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the Minister of Health of Russia, Mr. Mikhail Murashko, and they discussed the experience of both nations in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic, which is hitting the world today, as well as they stopped on the issues of bilateral cooperation on this front and the real potentialities to expand relations in this area, particularly in health and biotechnology issues, for mutual benefit.

All the meetings took place in a fraternal atmosphere, in keeping with the historical friendship and the excellent state of political relations that exist between the two countries. The potential to expand cooperation on all fronts was ratified and the character of strategic partner and ally on which our bilateral ties are based was consolidated.

The Deputy Prime Minister included, in his last working day in Russia, a group of meetings with other companies that express interest in working with Cuba and with the Ministry of Transport.

They accompanied the Cuban leader Ana Teresita González Fraga, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment; and Emilio Lozada García, director general of Bilateral Affairs of the Minrex, and other officials of the Government and the Embassy of Cuba in Russia.
