The ratification of the status of National Vanguard for the collective of the business unit of the National Omnibus base stands out in the day of celebration in this province of eastern Cuba, for the Day of the Transport Worker.
The festivities, which began with a morning general at the headquarters of the Provincial Company for the Transport of Passengers and General Cargo (CARDINAL), come with the reactivation here of the public services for the transfer of people, although complying with the physical distancing measures of the first stage of post-Covid-19 recovery.
Precisely, this particular reality has been reflected in the activities, since a contingent consisting of 40 young workers from the sector in the province was constituted, who with their presence at the stops in the provincial capital help to comply with the hygienic guidelines established by Health authorities.
The general secretary of the National Union of Transport Workers in this territory, Danuri Ortiz Velázquez, declared to the press that the day also includes carrying out voluntary work in a productive area; although all the groups carry out their own maintenance work, in keeping with the gradual return to activity.
June 28 was established as the Day of the Transport Worker during the First Congress of the National Union of the sector, which took place from June 25 to 29, 1971 and where the existing labor organizations of the sector were unified: transport, railway and aviation.
